How to Apply |
This year at the festival, the Hot Corner Association will award two $1000 scholarships to high school students. The scholarship is open to any high school senior who demonstrates a commitment to learning more about the Hot Corner era in Athens’ history and who is also able to attend the festival. The recipients will be judged upon essay responses to the following prompt:
Write about an African-American leader or event during the Hot Corner era who was instrumental in paving the way for your generation in Athens, GA. Include in the essay your career aspirations and your plans for reaching your goals. Write your essay in a way that demonstrates a deep understanding of the topic and historical context. Be sure to properly cite your sources.
Essays will be judged on content and grammar, containing at least 500 words.
The deadline for the 2025 application is March 1 at 11 pm. Type it on the form and submit. The winner will be announced at the festival on June 14th, on the stage at 4 pm. You must be present to win.
